劇情簡介

一場偶然的除夕卡拉OK比賽讓兩個表面毫無關系的高中生——學校籃球隊隊長特洛伊，跟性格害羞但成績優異的新生加布里埃爾相識。

本屬於兩個不同世界的他們意外發現原來彼此對唱歌都十分熱愛，配合更是十分默契。湊巧的是，假期結束後，他們更發覺兩人原來就讀於同一所學校。種種巧合讓特洛伊和加布里埃爾更加關注彼此，漸漸對對方產生好感。

學校各項比賽宣傳進行得如火如荼，特洛伊為一年一度的高校籃球比賽做著准備，而加布里埃爾也報名參加了十項全能大賽。

但與此同時，二人又被學校組織的音樂劇演出吸引住了目光。他們都希望有所改變，去做另一個領域的事情。特洛伊不甘於只做一名天才球員，而加布里埃爾也不想被人稱為「數學怪胎」。

於是很快音樂劇初試名單上就出現了特洛伊和加布里埃爾的名字，二人都希望能成為學校最新音樂劇的男女主角。

凱蒂新認識的朋友泰勒（莫妮卡·克爾曼飾）及特羅伊的好友兼支持者查德（科賓·布魯飾）知道消息後均表示不贊成，查德不希望見到自己的籃球偶像登上舞台，而泰勒則擔心自己帶領的學術比賽隊伍將失去一個重要的隊員。

一向都是學校音樂劇主角的夏佩（阿什麗·提斯代爾飾）及賴安（盧卡斯·格拉比飾）亦擔心自己在學校的地位將受動搖，於是聯同泰勒及查德想盡辦法使特洛伊及加布里埃爾不能成為音樂劇的主角。而其中，特洛伊和加布里埃爾也因此產生過誤會，但終究冰釋。

雖然困難重重，但特洛伊及加布里埃爾並沒有因此而放棄，反而更積極追尋自己的夢想，亦影響到其他同學向別人展示一些他們一直隱藏起來的才華，朋友們決定支持二人參加音樂劇。但緊要關頭，夏佩和賴安暗中搗鬼，說服老師修改復試時間。

導致音樂劇復試時間與籃球比賽、十項全能大賽時間沖突，但在朋友們的幫助下，這些並不是問題。特洛伊和加布里埃爾終於如願以償地參加了音樂劇復試，並得到了老師和同學們的肯定。
