本片根据著名作家杰克·伦敦的同名小说改编。全片画面气势恢宏，演员表演真切自然，把美丽壮阔的阿拉斯加风光和人与动物之间那种感人肺腑的情谊真实生动地表现在观众面前。
白牙的表演虽然没有过多特技和夸张的成分，但它充满灵性的目光和敏捷的姿态，把一只野性难驯的狼如何变成人类忠实勇敢的朋友的过程表现得淋漓尽致。
【雪地黄金犬】（White Fang）是迪士尼1991年推出的电影，这部由杰克伦敦世界名著《白牙》改编而成的电影，全片在阿拉斯加拍摄，充分流露动物与人类之间的真情，以及大自然的壮阔之美。票房不俗，尤其在欧洲成绩很漂亮，后来迪士尼又拍了续集【白狼勇士】（White Fang II: Myth of the Wolf），於1994年上映。
本片的剧情是发生在阿拉斯加掏金热时期，主角是一位为了完成父亲遗志而来到北国寻金的年轻人 Jack，他来此认识了一位雪地运送者 Alex 接著开始了他们的旅程。旅程中 Jack 因缘际会认识了一匹小狼白牙，命运多舛的白牙是狗和狼的混血种，由於母狼命丧枪下，它开始独自流落雪地，由於有狗的血统，狼群不与之为伍，后来又被印地安人抓去当搬运工，最后甚至落入恶人之手，悲惨成为赌场斗犬的宿命。命运之轮的流转让 Jack 与白牙再次相逢， Jack 奋不顾身将已经厌厌一息的白牙救了出来，他们经过一番相处，终於成为最好的夥伴。
本片由 Randal Kleiser 执导，在本片中挑大梁主演主角 Jack 的正是当时还蛮稚嫩的 Ethan Hawke，本片也是他第一次担任主角的电影作品！其他演员还包括 Klaus Maria Brandauer 、Seymour Cassel 、 Susan Hogan…等等，至於饰演白牙的狗明星名字则是叫做 Jed。
本片不但有闻名世界的杰克伦敦名著题材、温馨惊险的剧情、壮丽的阿拉斯加风光，而且，本片还有十分壮阔动人的配乐。担任本片配乐的配乐家是 Basil Poledouris，另一位知名的配乐大师 Hans Zimmer 当时也在片中负责部份的音乐。虽然本片并未发行原声带，但片中配合优美山河画面、高潮迭起剧情的乐章，依然让人印象深刻！

点评：本片根据作家杰克•伦敦的同名小说改编。片中白牙的表演是个看点，从野性难驯到灵性忠实的过程被表现得淋漓尽致。
