创作背景

1964年，Paul Simon移居欧洲后，开始在巴黎和英国伦敦各种民间俱尔部中演出。返回纽约后，他与CBS的唱片公司签约，制作人为Tom Wilson，并且重新与他的老搭档Garfunkel合作。

他们在1964年录制的专辑《Wednesday Morning》，其中包括歌曲《The Sound Of Silence》的销量不是很好，使得Simon返回伦敦。
